Balearic Symphony Orchestra

The Orchestra Simfónica de Baleaers "City of Palm" is a created formation to traverse of the Public Foundation of Balearic Islands for Music, organism formed in 1988 to instances del Balearic Government, the City council of Palm and the Consell of Majorca, to promote the musical activity of the Balearic Islands.

Luis Remartínez was the artistic director and titular holder of the Orchestra from his creation to year 1994. Maestros Philippe Bender have followed him (1994-1997), Salvador Brotons (1997-2000), Geoffrey Simon (2001-2002), Edmon Colomer (2003-2005) and at the moment he is it again the teacher Philippe Bender.

The Orchestra, in addition to its season of installment in Palm, participates in the production of the seasons of opera of the Consell of Majorca and of the Friends of the Opera of Maó.Festival de Mu'sica Castell de Bellver, Festival the International of Music of Pollença, Cycle of Music of Camera "Solistes de Sa Simfònica" in the Museu of Majorca, Cycle of Contemporary Music in the Museu Is scholastic Baluard, hearing and familiar concerts.

It has offered concerts in all the cities and towns of the Balearic Islands, the main cities of the Spanish state, Perpignan and Cannes. On the other hand, the Orchestra has released works of several composers of Balearic many of which they have been recorded in CD.

PHILIPPE BENDER

Been born in Besançon, France, it initiates his musical studies in his native city and the continuous one in the Superior Conservatory of Music of Paris, where it obtains in 1959 three first prizes. It attends the courses of the Hochschule für Musik de Friburgo in Brisgau, and later the courses of the Julliard School of New York where it obtains his title. As solista of flauta it is awarded in several international aids: Geneva, Munich, Montreal, etc. From 1950 to 1968, its race as solista it leads Switzerland, Germany and Austria to him, forming part of the Orchestra of Montecar it, in which Paul Paray discovers his talent for the orchestra direction and he initiates to participate to him in the aids for young directors.
